So it has been months since you've heard anything and I promise, LOTS of stuff has happened since then, but right now I'm still trying to get through camera issues. So bear with me, I will have a full, photo and info-packed post by tomorrow. In the mean time, I'll just key you in on a few things:
Our Ameraucanas, Marans, and Araucanas have just begun laying, but it is late in the year - So right now I just have a colorful, pretty egg basket and plenty of eggs to sell to local customers.
Our Yak, Djimon, is now over 6 months old and my is he handsome! We've been taking him on walks down trails, and are training him to pack and saddle.
Our goat population has been moving a lot - The last two kids you heard of being born a long time ago are both sold, both in good homes. Mom is giving, sadly, not the best milk. Her sister never gave birth to any kids, so she's up for grabs. And then, we of course now have two new goats! One is a Kinder, a sort of mini-Nubian, who gives excellent milk, great for delicious cheesemnaking, which we've been doing weekly, and the second is a young doeling who is also a Kinder, due to be milked next year. Get ready, we're going to have a goat population increase in just a couple weeks!! We're lovin' the homemade cheese, yogurt, and milk!
We've got geese now! Yep, four Sebastepol Geese, who are enjoying themselves in our vast pasture, which currently is penned off from goat access. It just needs a breather for the winter/spring. Next year, all our goats will be free to graze, but right now they have hay and alfalfa.
The chickens are all doing great, including my Tolbunt pair. :)
Oh, and we have 6 surprise chicks. . . Our New Hampshire hen, Moha, went broody and gave us 1 Easter Egger cockerel and 4 Marans X New Hampshire pullets.
